Welcome back to Behind the Build! In this blog series, we take you into the fascinating world of our botanical building sets. We explore our favourite brick flowers one by one: from their symbolic meaning to the build process and the best styling tips for your interior.
In this edition, we are looking at the ultimate symbol of fresh, natural beauty: the White Daisy. While we have some highly exotic and complex flowers in our collection, there is an undeniable, timeless charm to the simple daisy. It brings a crisp, clean, and cheerful energy to any brick-built bouquet, making it an absolute must-have for your botanical display.
The Inspiration: Purity, Innocence, and New Beginnings For generations, the white daisy has been a universally recognised symbol of purity, innocence, and true love. Because they close their petals at night and open them to the morning sun, they also strongly represent new beginnings and fresh starts.
Gifting a botanical brick set of White Daisies is a beautiful, thoughtful way to congratulate someone on a new job, a new home, or simply to bring a bright, hopeful smile to their face. Because of its neutral white and yellow palette, it is also incredibly easy to style in almost any interior.
The Build Experience: Crafting the Daisy Spray What makes building the White Daisy set so delightful is that you aren't just building a single flower—you are building a branching stem that holds multiple blooming heads! Looking at the instruction manual, here is what you can expect from this highly satisfying, repetitive build:
-
The Branching Stem: You start by constructing the main green stem. Using specialised angled connectors, you create multiple offshoots, preparing the plant to hold several distinct flower heads.
-
The Posable Leaves: Throughout the stem build, you attach classic, broad green leaves using hinge joints. This allows you to angle them naturally to frame the beautiful white blooms.
-
The Golden Hearts: The build then moves into a rhythmic, repetitive phase. You will build multiple floral cores by stacking bright yellow circular pieces, perfectly mimicking the textured, pollen-rich centre of a real daisy.
-
The White Petal Rings: The most iconic part! For each of the flower heads, you will attach eight crisp white petals around the yellow core. The instructions have you build these heads in multiples (creating three identical blooms in one of the main steps!), which you then snap onto the ends of the branching stem for a lush, freshly picked meadow look.
Mix & Match: Styling Your White Daisy The White Daisy is arguably the most versatile flower in our entire collection. It works brilliantly as both a standalone "Primary Flower" or a bright, clean "Filler Flower" that highlights the bolder colours in your vase.
Based on our official design guidelines, here are some spectacular ways to style it:
-
The Wildflower Meadow: Pair the White Daisy with its vibrant cousin, the Pink Daisy, and add the intricate Queen Anne's Lace. This combination creates a stunning, airy, and highly textured wildflower aesthetic.
-
The Bold Contrast: Use the clean white petals to make bright colours pop! Place the daisies next to the Orange Rose, the Pink Gerbera Daisy, or the Yellow & Purple Tulip. The white serves as a calm canvas that makes those primary colours look even more intense.
-
Soft & Calming: For a highly romantic, soothing bouquet, combine the White Daisy with the pastel pink of the Pink Peony and the soft purple of the Lavender.
-
The Rustic Soloist: A handful of White Daisy stems displayed entirely on their own in a simple glass jar or vintage tin creates a breathtakingly fresh, minimalist cottage-core centrepiece.
